Draft Horse Harness Construction
Bio
Plastic and Leather Construction We have found that in
constructing the Bio Plastic harnesses, the use of genuine leather
is a must to have it properly fit your horse. An added
advantage is that it is more comfortable for the animal. The
use of leather on key contact points of the harness makes this
possible. Bio Plastic harnesses come with Beta-Series
driving line. The Beta Series driving line is nylon, coated on
all sides with a rubber-like material and then textured to feel like
leather. These driving lines are rapidly gaining popularity
for show and
practice. We make ours with billet ends unless you specify
otherwise. When purchasing
hitch lines separately (Leather or Beta), we include for your convenience
a hangable line keeper with each set purchased. High
quality leather is used in all leather harnesses and halters,
whether it be for work, buggy or show. Leather lines with
billet ends come standard with our leather harness unless you
specify otherwise. Show
Harness Construction When making our show harness we
prefer to use only the pyramid style chain on the housings, backpads
and brow bands, Of course we encourage customers to make their
own ornament choices to customize their harness to their liking. To
insure high quality harness construction, we do two important
things: First, we add leather scuff pads to the housings and
backpads to protect those pieces from unnecessary tug wear.
Second, rolled leather is applied adjacent to the pyramid chain on
the housing, backpads and brow bands. This protects the chain
from damage. Unique to our show harness is our very own Showtime
Hames. They are stainless steel and are based on the popular
Wheatstate style show hame.
